On this remodel, we are not just putting on new siding, we are rebuilding the wall system the right way. Roof torn off and dried in last week, old siding coming off, foam board out, and a new Zip System going up for a tighter, better performing exterior.
We are checking every stud, adding nail plates anywhere electrical is present, and replacing rotten framing around windows and along the lower 2x8 so this house is solid before the first piece of metal ever goes on. New fascia, full metal wrap, new garage door, and fresh siding are all on deck.

The season’s first dusting of snow did not slow us down on this project. Up on the slopes of Mount Crested Butte, we replaced an aging cedar shake roof with a 1 inch Mechanical Lock standing seam system in @cmgmetals CMG’s Ultra Low Gloss Dark Bronze. This color is one of our favorites for mountain homes because it blends beautifully with the landscape while delivering serious performance.

Phase 1 of this multi-unit condo complex was completed in early spring 2025, featuring a 1” Mechanical Lock Standing Seam roof in Ultra Low Gloss Deep Black, one of our favorite finishes for mountain architecture.
This project presented a challenge with its low roof pitch and overlapping design, both common in multi-structure builds across Gunnison County. Low slope roofs can be prone to pooling water and ice buildup, which often leads to leaks, corrosion, and premature failure.
To ensure long-term protection, we double-locked every seam folding the panels twice to create a watertight barrier built to withstand heavy snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles. The result is a clean, durable, and fully sealed roof system that’s ready for whatever Colorado’s seasons bring.

Another one! This one was a record for us. The metal was installed in just 4 production days. Our crew has hit a very efficient sweet spot with Jim & Evan’s full oversight of installation process. Though we typically suggest striations added to long panels with intense exposure to mitigate oil canning, the customer opted for flat pan style on this install. @gunni_sheet_metal took intense care of machine adjustments to the fragments of an inch on the roll-forming of these panels - to ensure a perfect fit and further reduce any oil canning that may occur. Due to this, minimal is present.

Before we put the roof on, Axtell’s owner and math whiz, Jim Averill, hops on the roof and takes measurements onto what we call a cut-sheet. Typically this takes about 45 minutes, while this roof, with its many differing faces and aspects took 2.5 hours! Some of that time can be warranted to the wind for blowing his tape measurer with 30 mph force— always a fun time and everyday different! Onto the next!!
