Throwback to this great project in the Larkspur neighborhood, across from Skyland in Mount Crested Butte.
We teamed up with Mountain Home Builders to install an Ultra Low Gloss Charcoal Gray standing seam roof with striations to help reduce oil canning. Gunnison Sheet Metal knocked it out of the park with matching corrugated skirting in the same ULG Charcoal Gray finish.
Lexi Court is a beautiful build, and this roof is a great example of how charcoal gray can take on a completely different character during Colorado winters. The low winter light brings out darker tones that really complement the surrounding landscape.
Projects like this are a reminder of why we love building in the mountains. Great craftsmanship, great partners, and some pretty incredible views along the way.

These three buildings on Mount Crested Butte had spent 20–30 years battling life at 9,000 feet. Decades of heavy snow loads, ice buildup, freeze-thaw cycles, and intense high-altitude UV exposure had taken their toll, and it was time for a complete roofing upgrade.
This project required a full tear-off of multiple roofing layers before structural repairs could begin. Damaged decking was repaired and replaced, followed by the installation of DensDeck®, a high-performance cover board featuring a non-combustible gypsum core reinforced with fiberglass mats. DensDeck adds an extra layer of fire protection and impact resistance beneath the waterproofing membrane.

In 2025, we completed 13 full reroofs in the Wildhorse at Prospect neighborhood, replacing aging cedar shake systems with fire resilient metal assemblies built for mountain conditions.

Chimney rot does not start at the brick. It starts behind it.
Most leaks around chimneys are not caused by bad masonry. They start with precipitation trap points behind the chimney. If it is not properly overframed and flashed, it creates a trap zone where snow and ice collect. In mountain climates, that buildup turns into standing water during freeze thaw cycles.

Peeling it back to the studs in Gunnison.
On this remodel, we are not just putting on new siding, we are rebuilding the wall system the right way. Roof torn off and dried in last week, old siding coming off, foam board out, and a new Zip System going up for a tighter, better performing exterior.
We are checking every stud, adding nail plates anywhere electrical is present, and replacing rotten framing around windows and along the lower 2x8 so this house is solid before the first piece of metal ever goes on. New fascia, full metal wrap, new garage door, and fresh siding are all on deck.

The season’s first dusting of snow did not slow us down on this project. Up on the slopes of Mount Crested Butte, we replaced an aging cedar shake roof with a 1 inch Mechanical Lock standing seam system in @cmgmetals CMG’s Ultra Low Gloss Dark Bronze. This color is one of our favorites for mountain homes because it blends beautifully with the landscape while delivering serious performance.
This home was ready for a system built to handle real winter conditions. Mechanical Lock panels create a strong, watertight assembly that stands up to freeze thaw cycles, migrating ice, and the heavy snow loads that define life in our valley.

Phase 1 of this multi-unit condo complex was completed in early spring 2025, featuring a 1” Mechanical Lock Standing Seam roof in Ultra Low Gloss Deep Black, one of our favorite finishes for mountain architecture.
This project presented a challenge with its low roof pitch and overlapping design, both common in multi-structure builds across Gunnison County. Low slope roofs can be prone to pooling water and ice buildup, which often leads to leaks, corrosion, and premature failure.
To ensure long-term protection, we double-locked every seam folding the panels twice to create a watertight barrier built to withstand heavy snow loads and freeze-thaw cycles. The result is a clean, durable, and fully sealed roof system that’s ready for whatever Colorado’s seasons bring.
